Alan Dal Pra, MD

Dr. Dal Pra specializes in the treatment of genitourinary cancers, including prostate, bladder, kidney, ureteral, and penile cancers. His clinical expertise includes advanced radiation techniques, stereotactic body radiation therapy (SBRT), image-guided treatment, and personalized approaches incorporating molecular biomarkers and advanced imaging such as PSMA PET. He works closely with multidisciplinary teams at Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center to provide compassionate, individualized, and evidence-based care.

Dr. Alan Dal Pra is Professor of Radiation Oncology, Director of Genitourinary Radiation Oncology, and Director of Clinical Research in the Department of Radiation Oncology at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine. He also serves as Medical Director of Radiation Oncology at Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center at Coral Gables.

Dr. Dal Pra earned his medical degree from the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul in Brazil and completed radiation oncology training in Brazil and Canada. He subsequently pursued advanced fellowship and postdoctoral training in genitourinary oncology at McGill University and in translational oncology at the Princess Margaret Cancer Centre at the University of Toronto’s Bristow Laboratory.

Before joining the University of Miami, Dr. Dal Pra worked in Switzerland as a senior consultant and clinical investigator. His research focuses on improving and personalizing radiation therapy for genitourinary cancers, particularly prostate and bladder cancer. His work includes clinical trials, molecular and genomic biomarkers, PSMA PET-guided treatment, and strategies that integrate radiation therapy with systemic therapies.

Dr. Dal Pra leads and collaborates on national and international clinical trials and serves as the institutional principal investigator for the NRG Oncology clinical trials network. He has received multiple research grants and has authored or co-authored publications in leading journals, including Nature, Nature Genetics, The Lancet Oncology, European Urology, Clinical Cancer Research, and the International Journal of Radiation Oncology, Biology, Physics.

His goal is to translate advances in imaging, tumor biology, and clinical research into more precise and effective treatments while preserving patients’ quality of life.
